Glass massagers, wand massagers, and how they differ
Glass gives you firm weight with no motor to charge, while a wand gives you broad external vibration. Each material has its own care rules in the bathroom.
Glass massagers and wand massagers sit at opposite ends of how a device feels in your hand. A solid glass piece brings firm weight, zero drag once lubricated, and no motor unless you pick a hybrid. A wand massager puts a broad vibrating head against the outside of the body so vibration spreads across several inches at once.
Choosing between them is a question of whether you want steady, firm pressure or rumbly surface vibration, or a piece that combines both.
The three glass pieces on our shelf
We carry two solid glass massagers with no motor and one dual-ended vibrator that pairs a silicone head with a borosilicate glass end.
| Piece | How it is made | Shape and texture | Motor and care line |
|---|---|---|---|
| JimmyJane Dillenia Cissus | Borosilicate glass, made by hand | Rounded tip, faceted middle, and a wide faceted base | No motor; non-porous and listed as dishwasher safe |
| Icicles No. 24 Textured Glass Massager | Hand-blown pink glass, 6 in long | Raised dots and ridges along one side and a curl at the end | No motor; body-safe, non-porous glass, listed as dishwasher safe |
| Prisms Vibra-Glass 10X | Smooth body-safe silicone head and iridescent borosilicate glass end | Semi-flexible neck at the silicone end, smooth glass at the other | Both ends vibrate across three speeds and seven patterns; USB rechargeable, splashproof |
Glass does not flex at all. Where silicone gives slightly under pressure, glass transmits every bit of pressure directly to the spot you rest it against, which is why women who like firm G-spot or internal pressure often reach for glass.
On the Vibra-Glass 10X, a small LED lights the glass when the vibration is on, and its record states splashproof rather than waterproof. Clean that one with a damp cloth and mild soap rather than holding it under a running tap.
The four cordless wand massagers on our shelf
When what you want is broad external vibration rather than firm unyielding weight, a wand massager is the tool built for that job.
| Wand | Size and build | Speeds and patterns | Waterproof claim |
|---|---|---|---|
| Le Wand Dive | Silicone head on a reinforced metal shaft | 10 vibration speeds and 20 patterns, plus a travel lock | Fully waterproof |
| Doxy Go | Compact cordless wand with a body-safe silicone head | USB rechargeable | Record does not state waterproof; wash with a damp cloth |
| INYA Pleasure Wand | Flexible silicone wand with two working ends, one broad and one tapered | USB rechargeable | Waterproof |
| PalmPower Pocket | Palm-sized mini wand, 9 cm long and 2.5 cm across, with travel pouch and comfort ring | One-button control, 3 speeds and 4 functions, travel lock, 90 minutes of run time from a 90 minute charge | IPX7 waterproof |
Notice how the four divide by size and by water rating. Le Wand's Dive is the full-bodied waterproof wand for the bath or shower, while PalmPower's Pocket shrinks the wand shape down to 9 cm so it fits in your palm. INYA's Pleasure Wand gives you a broad head at one end and a tapered end at the other, and the Doxy Go is a compact drawer wand that stays out of the sink because its record does not state waterproof.
Inspecting glass, and why we wash it by hand
Glass is non-porous, so nothing soaks into it and warm water with mild unscented soap cleans it in thirty seconds. What requires attention is how glass behaves if you drop it or shock it.
- Check it in good light before every use. Turn the piece in your fingers and feel along the tip, the facets, and the base. Any chip, rough catch, or crack means the piece is finished and goes in the trash.
- Keep glass away from the microwave, the freezer, and boiling water. Sudden temperature changes can crack glass from the inside, so never heat it or chill it.
- Wash it by hand at the sink. Both the Dillenia Cissus and the No. 24 Textured Glass Massager list dishwasher safe in their records, and washing by hand in thirty seconds keeps them from knocking against plates or glassware.
- Store glass padded and separate. Wrap a glass piece in a soft cloth or keep it in its box so it never clinks against another object in a drawer.
For both glass and silicone wands, System JO's Agape is our 8 fl oz water-based lubricant made without parabens, glycerin, glycol, oil, or silicone.
We cannot ship a stimulation device to Alabama or Mississippi. State law puts this category out of reach there, so an order from either state gets refunded rather than shipped.
When to talk to a doctor instead
Firm internal pressure from glass and strong external vibration from a wand should never cause sharp pain, bleeding, numbness, or lingering soreness.
If internal pressure hurts, if you see spotting after using an internal massager, or if sensation changes suddenly, stop and book an appointment with a doctor, a gynecologist, or a healthcare provider. A different material is not the answer to pain that belongs in an examination room.
Which one to reach for first
If you want broad external vibration and want to take it in the shower, pick the INYA Pleasure Wand or the palm-sized PalmPower Pocket, or step up to the Le Wand Dive for 10 vibration speeds and 20 patterns. If you want firm, unhurried internal weight with no battery to charge, pick the JimmyJane Dillenia Cissus or the Icicles No. 24 Textured Glass Massager, which is 6 in long, and add a bottle of Agape alongside it.
